Does it Really Work? - Light Keeper Pro
By Tommy Noel
Some of you won't even wait until the Thanksgiving meal is finished before you start decorating for Christmas.
You'll probably take out those tangled lights this weekend and you're bound to find some strands that don't work. So will the Light Keeper Pro keep your holidays bright? You gotta feel sorry for Channel 3's Christmas Tree. It sits in the lonely, cold basement 11 months out of the year. Over the years, our old tree has kind of lost its spark. Random light strands just don't work anymore. We've tried to save it by adding new lights. Still though, this is one pathetic looking tree. Our last hope - the Light Keeper Pro. It promises to fix light sets, fast and easy. "Take out one of the unlit bulbs," says Tommy Noel. And then you attach the light keeper pro to the socket. "Then you squeeze," says Tommy. There's a long explanation that comes with the product, but basically the squeezing sends a pulse of electricity and fixes the broken circuit. The lights are supposed to come back on after several squeezes. They didn't, so I became discouraged, thinking the product was a dud, until I replaced the bulb. "It works! It came back on. Did you see that," says Tommy. So it works with this strand. Now on to the rest of the tree. "Yeah it worked. OK that one worked. We got another set working," says Tommy. Strand after strand was re-energized and our tree was being transformed from Charlie Brown to Rockefeller Center. Lights were coming on and I didn't even notice. Now, the results weren't perfect. "Nope. That didn't work," says Tommy. However, the majority were fixed. Now not to be a downer, before you go out and buy the Light Keeper Pro, the product doesn't work all of the time. We have a strand of lights where half are out. I tried the Quick Fix Trigger and another feature called the audible voltage detector, but neither worked. Something to keep in mind. "We had much better luck with the pre-lit Christmas tree. This is a very difficult Spud-o-Meter rating. I'm kinda split on this. I'd give it a three. Right down the middle. Pre-lit tree, yes. Get it. Strands of lights. Blah. It's not worth the time the effort the money," says Tommy. You can purchase the Light Keeper Pro at Lowe's for $18. There are other features, including a light tester, light remover and a place to keep extra lights. |
