There are just a few more weeks before school starts. But we wanted to squeeze in some fun toys for the kids before they head back.

Since 3D movies have been a hit this summer, we figured why not take that fun out into the driveway with Crayola's 3D Chalk! It's the featured product for this edition of "Does it Really Work?"

Commercial: "Now when you take art outside, you can bring it to life, with Crayola Outdoor 3D Chalk and Glasses.

"It's different when it's on TV," says Christina Caouette.

That may be the case. But will 5-year-olds Braedyn and Manda and little Keagan become amazed by Crayola 3D Chalk?

"OK, here's one for you. before we color, we got to read the directions though," says Tommy Noel.

And those directions give the 3D secret. Using warm colors like red, appear high, cool colors like blue, seem low.

"Fill that in with the blue," says Tommy.

For the full effect to happen, there's a lot of coloring and filling in. Simple lines just won't cut it.

"I think mine's all colored," says Braedyn.
"It's all colored? Keep going," says Tommy.

"Trying to get them to do one color then the next, they really didn't get that part," says Christina.

The kids drew some simple shapes and it was time to put on the glasses.

"It looks pretty awesome," says Braedyn.
"Is it popping out at you," asks Tommy.
"Yeah it's definitely popping out," replies Braedyn.

I wish I could show you the effect on TV, but trust me, the 3D Chalk really does work.

"That's pretty cool. They don't fit on my face. The orange part is like elevated," says Tommy.

From simple shapes to more complex drawings, I let the kids take over. And that's when I learned about Braedyn's fascination with space.

Manda and Braedyn drew nearly the entire solar system, in 3D, of course.

"I don't know about the 5 year olds, but I'm really impressed," says Tommy.

"When they put on the glasses, they were all excited. He was trying to walk through it," says Christina.

Hmm.. Remind you of anything? I guess our experience is pretty close to the commercial!

"The chalk looked like it was popping up to my eyes," says Braedyn.

To be fair, we'll get two points of view with our Spud-O-Meter. First.. the kids.

"A five," says Braedyn.

"Five.. Because I liked it," says Manda.

And now from mom...

"Probably a four," says Christina.

You can pick up a package of 3D Chalk at Toys R Us for $10.
