"Everything should taste like bacon." That's the slogan for the product featured in this "Does it Really Work?"

This product has a local tie, as one of the founders of 'Bacon Salt' graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

Eyewitness News Reporter Tommy Noel puts it to the test at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.

There's plenty of food and people at the fair, and they all seemed pretty eager to try out Bacon Salt.

First test.. Popcorn.

"Yeah.. I like it. It's got a good bacon flavor. Really smoky," says one fair-goer.

We did a test on just a few kernels, but this lady wanted more Bacon Salt.

"Yeah you can put a little more," says fair-goer.

Next up. A Tortado.

"You know what it tastes like? The bar-b-que chips. The Pringle ones," says fair-goer.

Bacon Salt even did well on corn on the cob.

"It's pretty good," says fair-goer.

And french fries.

"It's spicy but it's not. Kinda like a salty, bacony mix," says fair-goer.

That's the ruling from the fair-goers. How will Bacon Salt rate for the Channel 3 folks.

"Well that's pretty good. I'd definitely use this at home," says Anthony Congi.

"I like it. Mmmmmm," says Sarah Schwabe.

But If you aren't sold on Bacon Salt yet, maybe one guy will change your mind.

"Dude, it smells so good...Oh my that is so good...So good," says fair-goer.

While we did find a food that didn't mix very well...

"I'm not sure I'd put it on kettle corn," says fair-goer.

They did throw out ideas of what they would put the salt on, back at home.

"Salad, crackers with cottage cheese.. With breakfast, you know, with your eggs," says fair-goers.

Time now for our Spud-O-Meter, this time topped off with some Bacon Salt.

"I'd give it a 4."

"4.3."

"A five."

"Like a four."

"Yeah like a three."

"4.5."

"I'd give it a five. Everybody gotta try it out."

"A 10 actually. 20!"

And the company has recently started a program of sending Bacon Salt to the troops overseas, since bacon is not readily available in Iraq and Afghanistan.

You can get Bacon Salt at Albertson's in Pocatello, Idaho Falls, or Blackfoot. It costs about 4 bucks.
