Does it Really Work? - Odorzout

It's a carpets worse nightmare. Pet urine. And the odor that goes along with it makes things ten times worse.

But there's a product out there called "Odorzout," that promises to get rid of virtually every odor out there.

We asked reporter Rick Montanez and his fiance to try out this product with their dog Cody.

"He had a little trouble with the potty training. We got him in the dead of winter," says Christa Costello.

"We really couldn't take him outside to train him because he hated going outside at first. It was freezing," says Rick Montanez.

And now the two are suffering in the odor left behind.

There's a spot that Cody prefers to relieve himself. Right in front of the TV. And they've tried everything to mask the scent.

From powders to professional cleanings to...

"Candles and incense," says Christa.

"When it's hot, the aroma kinda comes up," says Rick.

They're almost at a last resort, so we'll let them try Odorzout.

It claims to eliminate odors naturally. The main ingredient is Zeolite, it's a natural occurring mineral that acts like a odor magnet.

Christa sprinkled a layer of Odorzout on her carpet, which we'll let sit all night.

We're now at Day 2 and things are looking pretty positive.

Rick noticed a change the day the Odorzout was used.

"The overwhelming scent is gone," says Rick.

"The first time I came back in, it stopped me, because I'm like, Rick! I don't smell anything," says Christa.

The directions say to vacuum the next day. Although Cody wasn't a big fan of the vacuum cleaner.

Rick and Christa didn't notice the smell when they walked in, but now it's time for a more thorough check.

"I kneeled down and got close to the carpet and kinda smelled a hint of it," says Rick.

Christa mentioned the same thing.

"A little bit.. But I knew what I was looking for," says Christa.

However..

"So far yeah, the best thing we've used so far," says Rick.

As far as the Spud-O-Meter goes.

"I would say a 3," says Rick.

Rick would bump up his score if future applications got rid of the remaining odor. He also didn't like that some granules stayed in the carpet after vacuuming.

"Like a four. When I put my nose down into it, I could smell it," says Christa.

Rick and Christa will continue to use the product until the odor completely goes away.

You can buy it at Petsmart for about 12 bucks, or visit www.88stink.com to purchase online.
