Have you ever had problems opening those plastic clam-shell packages?

There is a product that promises to open them with ease.

Eyewitness News Reporter Tommy Noel starts off the most requested products for 'Does it Really Work?' with the OpenX.

Infomercial: "Use OpenX to open almost any package. Even those impossible plastic packages."

They always make it look so easy on those infomercials. So now it's our turn to try out the OpenX.

Local business owner Darrin Jackson had never seen the product before but is willing to give it a shot.

"I think I understand the lady's frustration. Trying to bite stuff open," says Darrin Jackson.

After holding the OpenX for the first time, it's time to open the first product.

"We're gonna open up this battery operated fan," says Darrin.

The package easily opened and left a clean mark.

To compare, we had Darrin open a package with a pocket knife.

"It was kind of rugged. Little unsafe. Made you nervous, Tommy," says Darrin.

The OpenX opened up plastic package after package. But Darrin wasn't impressed with opening a DVD.

"I didn't think it was as versatile as they advertise it," says Darrin.

We're now curious to see if Darrin could use the OpenX at his business. He owns "The Blind Guy" and tried to open up a box of blinds. And it works.

"This is safer," says Darrin.

It's time now to rate the OpenX.

"On the Spud-O-Meter, I rate the OpenX a 4. I thought it worked really well for the tougher packages. It was smooth and went around the edges.

There is one problem I found with the OpenX.

It's made for right-handed people, so us left-handed folks might have a harder time using it.

Next week, we'll try out another most requested product.. The Ped Egg.
