Today, Eyewitness News Reporter Tommy Noel fulfills another viewer request in this edition of Does it Really Work?

Will the Smart Lidz really help keep food fresh or will they go straight to the garbage can?

The lids promise to vacuum seal any bowl or jar. We headed over to a local restaurant to find out if they really work.

Infomercial: "Can't find a lid to fit? Fed up wrestling with cling wrap that only sticks to itself?"

Chef Tony thinks he has the answer with Smart Lidz.

We took the vacuum seal gadgets to Craigo's to see if they might have a use for them.

James Burden gets to work way before the restaurant opens to prepare.

"[I] start getting sauces ready. Start cooking noodles. Stuff like that," says James Burden.

With his busy schedule, lets get started.

"So I guess we'll start off with trying some grape tomatoes... So far it seems alright," says James.

So far, so good.

In the infomercial, a bowl is knocked off the table with no spill, now it's our turn.

"That wasn't how it was supposed to work was it," asks James.

Feeling bad, I just wasted tomatoes at Craigo's, I volunteered to clean-up.

Using a different lid and different container, we had the same results.

Not only that, after just a few tries the lids became weak.

"It already looks flimsier," says Tommy Noel.

"It's stressed already," says James.

And one of the lids suffered a nasty tear.

Obviously, we were a little nervous about the liquid test, but gave it a shot anyway.

"It already sounds like it wants to come off," says James.

We decided not to drop this one on the floor.

Craigo's decides to pass on the Smart Lidz.

"Maybe for home use or smaller things, they might be all right.
In a restaurant use, no," says James.

We now turn to our spud-o-meter.

"I'd say one and a half," says James.
