Does it Really Work? - Lysol Steam Mop

Since i started our 'Does it Really Work' segment, I've gotten a lot of requests for various products.

Today, I fulfills some of those requests by trying out a steam mop that just hit the market.

Steam mops are a little pricey, so I'm trying one that's a little more affordable. But will it hold up to our cleaning test?

With 6 kids Elisha Schofield is constantly cleaning.

"A lot of mess. All the time," says Elisha Schofield.

Which means she needs the best possible cleaning products.

"It has to be easy. It has to be fast. Has to do a good job," says Elisha.

With the big craze in products that produce steam, we thought we'd try the Lysol Steam Cleaning Mop.

"I'm excited because I'm hoping it will work," says Elisha.

In the time it took us to read the directions, we probably could have mopped the floor 3 or 4 times.

"There were a lot of instructions that weren't really clear," says Elisha.

But once we got the hang of it, we put on the reusable pad and added water.

"This could be messy," says Elisha.

And cleaner... And plugged it in...

The directions say wait 2 to 3 minutes before mopping.

It was then time for the moment of truth.

"Oh hey! Oh hey," says Elisha.

I think Elisha likes this thing.

"Oh yeah," says Elisha.

The steam mop cleaned up some dried on Fruity Pebble residue and some sticky juice.

"I think I would buy it," says Elisha.

With all the pros, of course you have to have a few cons.

"It does get hot, and if you don't keep a watch on it, kids can get burned," says Elisha.

Elisha also mentioned it might take awhile to get used to a mop with a cord.

We now turn to our Spud-O-Meter.

"I would say a 4," says Elisha.

I bought the Lysol Steam Mop at Walgreens for $40. Keep those product ideas coming, or let me know if you'd like to try out a product! tommyn@kidk.com
