Does it Really Work? - Zip 'N Steam Bags

Healthy meals in minutes. That's the claim in this week's edition of Does it Really Work?

Today, Eyewitness News Reporter Tommy Noel put Zip 'N Steam Bags to the test.

Vegetables may not be the favorite food of most kids, but Jackie Perry hopes to change that with the Zip 'N Steam bags.

"I don't like to boil vegetables. They taste nasty and mushy," says Jackie Perry.

I bought a package of 7 large bags at the store. Our vegetables of choice, green beans and carrots.

We put in half a bag of green beans, added seasoning and used Jackie's cool talking microwave.

"4 minutes express cook," says the microwave.

While waiting, we looked over some recipes included with the bags.

"Chocolate apples. Wow!" says Tommy Noel.

After 4 minutes, we had some steamed green beans.

Now for the test.

"How does it taste," asks Tommy Noel.

"Pretty good," replies Jackie.

They tasted fresh and not at all mushy.

"They are crunchy," says Jackie.

We had similar results with the carrots, and even hot dogs.

45 seconds later, we had hot dogs as if we were at a baseball game.

But would Jackie buy a package of the bags on her next grocery trip.

"I think I would," says Jackie.

It's time to rate the Zip 'N Steam bags on our trusty Spud-O-Meter.

"I would go for 5 spuds for this one," says Jackie.

We picked up the Zip 'N Steam bags at Albertsons for about $3.
