Does it Really Work? - Vidalia Slice Wizard

It promises to chop, slice, and dice. In the first of our weekly series, we find out if the Vidalia Slice Wizard really works.

Infomercial: "Are you tired of shedding tears just to chop an onion?"

"I have such sensitive eyes, the onions just kill me," says Kara Petersen.

Kara Petersen spends about 3 hours a day in the kitchen and would love a time saver.

"It seems like I'm making huge amounts of food for five kids and a husband," says Kara.

Infomercial: "It's 7 different kitchen tools right in one machine."

Our first impression when we opened the box... A lot of parts with some confusing instructions.

But once we got going, we sliced away. First off a cucumber.

"That's very thin. That's kinda cool," says Kara.

Next up, a tomato.

"I don't like cutting tomatoes. They're very difficult to cut," says Kara.

But that all changed with a few moves of the wrist.

"Hey! That's really nice," says Kara.

We got similar results with an onion, an apple, cheese, and a potato.

"That's really interesting because you don't feel like it's working, but then it does. It works," says Kara.

And for some reason, apples always taste better when they are sliced up.. Just make sure you wash off the blades between each food.

"I can taste a little bit of onion," says Tommy Noel.

"It has a lot of different uses. And a lot of different foods," says Kara.

We turn now to our spud meter, with 5 being the highest.

"I think I would give it a 4. Only because it's not dishwasher safe," says Kara.

The infomercial shows the Slice Wizard going into a dishwasher, but the instructions don't recommend it.

We bought the Vidalia Slice Wizard for $20.
