Harassed Gay Man Threatens to Sue County

By Araksya Karapetyan

A gay Ammon man is threatening to sue the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office because of what he says is lack of concern over ongoing harassment, if things don't change.
Chukk Nielson, his partner and Nielson's eleven year old son don't feel safe in Ammon anymore.
Ever since they moved into their home, they've faced continuous harassment.

Chukk Nielson:"We got egged, a deer put put into the mailbox, spray painted with works fag, queer, toilet papered with human feces wrapped in it, thrown up against our house. "

And that's not all.

Nielson: "Came out to open mail, one time there was a deer head inside, and now there's egg mush."

Araksya Karapetyan:"How many of these lights were stolen? "
Nielson: "Sixteen were stolen."

Karapetyan: "This little bush right here used to look like that one."

Nielson: "All over right here. Can't get egg off, once it got hot, it baked on."

Nielson says he's had the police over at least a dozen times the past two years, this weekend alone they made three calls.

Nielson: "We've been told unless we physically see the perpetrators doing the action, that they can't do anything about it."

And according to Nielson there is no justice.

Karapetyan: "Have they seen damage?"
Nielson: "They did take picture every time, but never got filed, don't have case number don't know where file went."

Nielson says the estimated damage is close to 2-thousand dollars at this point and as for the emotional stress there is no price tag.

Nielson: "I don't feel safe in the neighborhood. Ammon pays so much for Bonneville County to protect us and I don't feel we're getting that protection."

Nielson believes his problems are taking a back seat because of his sexual orientation.

Nielson: "If things get worse and not taken care of, I will file a suit against the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office."

I spoke with the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office and they told me that last night's incident is currently being reviewed by a detective and that any past records will also be looked over.
