Local students compete in Science Olympiad
POCATELLO - Kids from around Southeast Idaho competed in the Science Olympiad at Idaho State University Saturday.

They had to build electrical circuits, catapults, bridges, wind turbines, and even take written tests.

Even though it takes a lot of math and science to complete each exercise most kids think of it as a time to have some fun. Leslie Boston-Hyde, Eagle Rock Junior High student said, "Its just a fun time. You get to do scientific stuff, and if you don't know the scientific stuff you get to make it up-which is fun."

Schools with winning teams get cash awards totaling $500 to support science education.

Wind Farms

The wind turbines lining the foothills east of Idaho Falls are getting a lot of attention. What do you think about the wind farms?

  • They're too close to residential areas and they're lowering property values. They're ruining the view. Build them somewhere else!
  • They provide clean energy, and they generate local jobs and tax revenue. They're the wave of the future. Welcome to town!
  • Not sure.
