IDAHO FALLS - Statistics show that less than a third of Americans over 65 get enough exercise, but a new series of classes here in town is working to change that.

Eastern Idaho Public Health District has organized "Fit and Fall" classes Monday through Friday at various times and locations.

The free classes are designed to help seniors improve their muscle strength, balance, and reduce falls. These classes are open to the public and you are never too old to take part.

Irma Sagazie is 100 years old and attends these classes regularly, she said, "I like the exercises because I feel better and I think by staying active you are better off than sitting and crochet ting and stuff like that. Classes are wonderfully good for you, even if you don't feel like going you go anyway.

The classes will end April 5th, 2010.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
