IDAHO FALLS - You've all seen the graphic commercials broadcast from the Idaho Meth Project. Some say those are enough to never touch the drug, but those who already have say they're almost as bad as the real thing.
"I was using five or six times a day. I had to have that adrenaline rush. I was pimped out by my husband, I was raped a couple of times. I had to do things sexually that I would never do in my life, all because of the drug," says Rebekah Vallin, recovering Meth addict.
It's almost hard to tell the difference between a commercial and reality. The dangers and effects of methamphetamine. How they destroy you, your life, and your family.
"I did a six and a half month stint in prison. I lost my kids for awhile. It's just been one hard thing after another and it's been my own fault," says Vallin.
After 20 years of using, Rebekah had finally had enough.
"I was seeing how it was tearing apart my kids and I was losing them," she says.
Now a voice for the Idaho Meth Project, Rebekah has been clean for five years and hopes to share her story to save others. Just like these graphic commercials.
"We hope, and I know the Idaho Meth Project and the Governor hopes and believes that the Idaho Meth Project reduce that even further down," says Josh Tolman, Mountain View Hospital Representative.
But after living the nightmare Rebekah will never forget.
"It's not an easy road. I deal with it every night. You've got to be ready to do anything, because if you do anything for the drugs, you should be able to do anything not to do the drugs," says Vallin.
