JEFFERSON COUNTY - Handfuls of Jefferson County Residents have put up signs in their yards telling Sheriff Blair Olsen to enforce Idaho animal cruelty laws.

Organizers have also scheduled a protest January 7th at 9:30am at the Courthouse to drop charges against behalf of Troy Jackson, the Boise man who rescued dogs from Jefferson County.

And, after a frustrating end to the first commissioners meeting over this dog controversy, a second one is being held January 11th at 3pm. This also at the Jefferson courthouse.

We first told you that an executive meeting between Jefferson County Commissioners and Sheriff Blair Olsen was held the same morning as the first meeting over animal abuse laws.

Olsen did not attend the public meeting where many shared their frustrated beliefs over a mishandled case.

Andi Elliott tells Eyewitness News, "The Humane Society of the United States says that 'tons' of members are responding to this situation."

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
