REXBURG - The Post Register sues Rexburg City Hall over requested information from City Hall about some of the situations that may have led to the resignation of former Mayor Shawn Larsen.

Information that was requested included ambulance responses to the Larsen home, as well as information about any investigation made by the city on Larsen and a female staffer, including e-mails.

The Standard Journal reports from Monday's hearing that Rexburg City Hall Attorney Steven "Zollinger countered that the city has complied with requests for information and that the omission of one emergency call was due to an oversight."

Our calls to Rexburg City Hall and Steven Zollinger for a response to the lawsuit have not been immediately returned.

Rob Thornberry, Assistant Editing Manager of the Post Register tells Eyewitness News that, "The story speaks for itself. And we await for the judges decision."

The Post Register contends that Zollinger and Rexburg City Hall are being evasive in releasing public records and base their complaint on the fact that Madison County responded to the same request but showed 3 emergency responses to the Larsen home, including the 1 that the City released.

A decision is pending. District Judge Greg Moeller has requested files from Rexburg City Hall.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
