POCATELLO - With Thanksgiving over its officially okay to start playing Christmas music, and its time for Ring in the Holidays.

The warm weather made for a great afternoon as a steady stream of people walked up and down the streets of Old Town. Virginia Rademacher, visiting Old Town with her kids and nieces said, "Everybody has enjoyed it including my two-year-old son."

Ring in the Holidays has been a tradition in the Gate City for nearly two decades.

And once the different venues opened this afternoon people were ready to go. Richard Misner, a Pocatello parent said, "They enjoy coming down here, doing all of the fun stuff that they do down here in Old Town."

That includes face painting, and playing in the Pocatello High School gym.

Making crafts for the Christmas tree, and don't forget visits with Santa. Richard Misner Jr. said, "We just saw Santa. I'm getting a Nerf for Christmas."

A $1 donation is suggested for the activities, and the money benefits Old Town Pocatello.

The bargain price tag is one reason so many people come back every year. Misner said, "Something for the kids to do, and it's not too expensive."

But cost isn't the only reason to get out of the house. Rademacher said, "We thought the kids would just enjoy it, and we thought that it would just get their minds off of being away from their Dad, and being away from our home."

Rademacher's husband is serving in the military.

He is scheduled to come home December 20.

It will be the first Christmas the family has been together in two years. "We try to do all sorts of things for Christmas, and just get the kids out and about and have fun as a family," said Rademacher."

No matter the reason they decide to come to Old Town, increased foot traffic is good news for businesses. Rademacher said, "It's just a great day."

If you didn't make it to Old Town Friday you haven't totally missed out.

Saturday you can stop by U.S. Bank to take a look at the Extreme Gingerbread Competition.
