TETON COUNTY - An 11-year-old boy has shot and killed a black bear at point blank range in Teton County.

The Teton Valley News reports that the boy was home alone with two younger sisters and was afraid the bear would make its way into the house just like the bear that Fish and Game trapped and euthanized two weeks ago.

The boy tried to get the bear to leave initially.

Fish and Game says that the family isn't in trouble, and that they would have likely put this bear down themselves.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
