AMMON - When you sign up for a gym membership you think you're going to be able to use all the amenities they have to offer, but if you don't read the fine print you'll probably be surprised when they make changes and you're still stuck with a contract.
"The benefit to going into World Gym isn't the same. It's not worth it to me now," says Jake Schaefer.
World Gym has recently relocated from Idaho Falls to it's new location in Ammon. Technically it's only four miles away from it's old spot,.but it doesn't quite offer the same amenities the old gym did.
"The last three years those classes have been available and I participated in those classes and I was under the assumption an I was led to believe that those would continue when I reupped the first of July. Nothing was said to the contrary and they're not any longer," he adds.
Most group fitness classes including spin, aerobics, martial arts, yoga, and anything to that sort of nature have been cancelled. Along with child day care making it difficult for some members to attend or even want to at all.
"I feel really misled on the whole thing," he says.
World Gym decided not to go on camera, but did assure me they've breached no violation in their contractual agreement. They say those classes weren't a guarantee and members weren't filling them up. They've also told me for those patrons who are upset can do an early buy out, but assure me that most members are satisfied with the new changes. The gym is now staffed 24-7 and is in a new facility with up to date machines.
"I was told that with your membership these are the things you will get to participate of have access too," he adds,
Unless you read the fine print realizing nothing is ever a guarantee.
