POCATELLO - The environment, energy, and economics are the focus of a symposium at Idaho State University.

Students, teachers, and industry experts are looking for ways to use all three together for better sustainability.

At the panel discussion on wind energy presenters talked about the importance of renewable energy growth.

They also discussed why simple, reliable equipment is needed for success. Jeff Brown, Chief Operations Officer for Nordic Wind Power said, "When you're a small community, and you're putting up one, two, five turbines you're not going to have a full-time crew there keeping these things up and running."

A representative from Idaho Power also discussed their strategies for meeting demand by using a variety of energy sources.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
