IDAHO FALLS - Just shy of it's second year anniversary, the development area Snake River Landing is continuing to grow and change the entire landscape of Idaho Falls.

As you look around, you see beautiful landscaping, unique buildings, and several empty lots; which developers don't seem to mind.

"The plan for snake river landing is it will take several years to develop. It's not something that is gonna happen overnight. Our goal is to create a quality development that the region can be proud of, that's not gonna happen in a couple years, that's going to take time," says Chief Development Officer, Eric Isom.

The Chamber of Commerce is also excited to see what the area will ultimately bring.

"To be able to take advantage of the world famous Snake River, to be able to build a nice development along there, I think that does a lot for the community. As they continue to develop that at a pretty conservative rate, it's going to bring a lot more opportunities for this area," explains Chamber President, Rob Chiles.

"We've tried to focus in the initial years on the road ways, the infrastructure, the landscape amenities, to create the place and so people can get a feel and see what it's going to be like down here," says Isom.

Over the last year, several businesses and offices have made Snake River Landing their home, but that wasn't before some tough times.

"We slowed down just like everybody else did. Fortunately in Idaho Falls, we've been somewhat sheltered from that compared to a lot of markets, but it's still been a factor," says Isom.

One of those businesses that decided to bite the bullet and open up shop, is the Bella Vita Coffee House which only opened it's doors two months ago.

"Right now was actually a really good time to do it. Because I had people helping me. More so that I would have before. It was just getting up enough nerve to do it but somebody had to start," says Owner, Melanie Hines.

In the next five to ten years, the area will likely see additional buildings for office space, retail, restaurants, a movie theater and housing.

"The goal is to create a place that is truly unique and unlike anything in the region," says Isom.

Final approval for the housing development should be completed by the city this month... With groundbreaking starting in the spring.
