BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A Montana man who failed to show up for sentencing on felony theft convictions has been apprehended in Idaho.

Musselshell County Attorney Kent Sipe says Bryon Kancilia was arrested Wednesday in Glenns Ferry, located in central Idaho between Boise and Twin Falls.

Authorities have been looking for the 48-year-old Kancilia since Aug. 27, when he failed to show up for sentencing in Musselshell County District Court. Kancilia was to be sentenced for five counts of felony theft after a jury convicted him of the charges in May.

Two felony arrest warrants were issued for him after he failed to appear in court. A new charge of felony bail jumping was also filed.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
