POCATELLO - Ten teachers at Washington Elementary School have an extra $100.

The Walmart Foundation donated $1,000 to the school which is being split-up among the teachers.

The money will be a benefit for teachers who normally purchase a lot of supplies out of their own pocket. Steve Morton, Washington Elementary Principal said, "You know, the teachers it'll defray some of the cost that they spend out-of-pocket, and the kids are the ones that'll really benefit. So we're excited for that."

None of the teachers knew about the gift cards before the assembly.

Their names were chosen at random out of a hat.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
