IDAHO FALLS - "It's hurting us all that are here on Hitt Road. We do what we have to do to stay open," says Kathryn Kyle, store manager at Rocknaks Hardware Plus.

Even though it may not look like it, you can access any business along Hitt Road. It's just going to take you a few extra turns to get there.

"You have to go all the way around and the way gas prices are people are just going to what's close. They're not coming here," says Kyle.

"We have a big concern as to will our business be off, will it be half of what it was for the next three months, it's hard to tell," says Chad Eldridge, owner of Majestic Autobody.

Hitt Road from Walmart to 1st is completely blocked off, but 1st Street is a through shot. Construction continues along Hitt from !st to Mesa and ends there. But businesses on the North side and the one's stuck in between are left in the dust.

"They're turning around. They see the road blockage and they turn around and go back," says Kyle.

STAND UP - The construction is causing many road blocks for drivers, but just because the road's closed here doesn't mean businesses are.

"We are open and if I don't have it, I'm going to find it for you or I'll bring it in for you," says Kyle.

Businesses going out of the way for their customers, but not getting any slack.

"The City Council made a decision due to the amount of money they would save and it would be between $15-$100 thousand dollars at least, and the roads would be closed," says Tom Hally, Idaho Falls City Council member.

"Just to shut it down for the whole length of time seemed a little severe," says Eldridge.
