High speed chase through 3 counties ends with 3 in custody
By Tommy Noel
BINGHAM & POWER COUNTIES - An 18-year-old Fort Hall man led police on a wild pursuit late Sunday night.
It all started on Highway 91 when a Bingham County Sheriff's deputy tried to pull over Kyle Dixey for suspected DUI. Dixey didn't pull over and that's when the pursuit began. Speeds reached up to 90 miles-per-hour on the highway and Interstate 86. Meanwhile, Power County Sheriff's deputies set down spike strips to stop the car. As the vehicle rolled across the spike strips, the driver’s side tires were punctured. The pursuit slowed to 15 mph as the tires went flat and came off the vehicle. It finally came to a stop near American Falls. Dixey was later booked in the Bingham County Jail for felony fleeing and eluding and misdemeanor DUI. His two passengers were cited for alcohol related charges, Mitzi V. Metz and Robert Buckman of Fort Hall. Luckily, no one was injured during the pursuit. |
