Chip seal problems - part 1

IDAHO FALLS - "ITD's action stole our property and the use of our property and backyard," said a man who doesn't want to be identified because after years of fighting with ITD, the stress was just too much.

"The noise is horrific. We used to have barbecues and parties and entertain people. And now we can't even open windows at night."

The noise was worse right after larger rocks in a type 3 seal coat was used back in 2000.

"The first couple of years the noise was so bad, that people in the house were sleeping with earplugs. Some people slept in the living rooms instead of their bedrooms because of the noise."

Noise that penetrates a half mile away, over this fence and into this backyard.

I-15 will be receiving a new chip seal coating this summer, and the noise might return to the Burlwood neighborhood.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
