Family needs help to save dogBy Jennifer McGraw
SHELLEY - "She's a really nice dog, if my dad tries to play with us, she'll actually try and protect us from him tickling us even," says Alexa Morris, sister.
Two year old Mya, a Labrador/Pitbull mix, lives right here with her family. That was until she got loose from her chain and roamed the neighborhood. Police were called and told she was chasing people and police say she even charged them. "She's very gentle. She would never hurt anyone," says Devyn Morris, the older bother. But when they picked her up, they were told otherwise. "You've got my dog, I want to get her back and he said 'You've got about two options, either you put her down or we put her down, and I just didn't know what to do," says the father, Jordan Morris. "I just feel helpless, I don't know what else to do," says Kathy Morris, the mother. It's a scary situation to have a dog charging at you, but if nothing happens, should the dog be put to sleep? Or maybe just issued a ticket? Did the dog didn't hurt anyone? "No," says Shelley Police Chief Alan Dial. Do you think it's the right course of action to just go ahead and put it to sleep? "I do," says Dial. The family's only legal rights... get a court order to stop it, but attorneys cost money they can't afford. "And now, we may never get to see her again," says Kathy. "She'd die without us. She loves us so much," says Devyn. "I don't want to see her put under. She doesn't deserve that. She's never hurt anybody ever," says Jordan Morris. "I would just do anything to save her," says Tyler Morris, the younger brother. Well Tyler, we'll do our best. |
