Blessing of the Bikes
By Justine Beauvais
POCATELLO - Usually, Pocatello is calm and quiet on a Sunday afternoon but today the town roared.
"I mean look at this family of everybody that gets together and we all just, it seems like, I'm just gonna say we all just love each other and we do," says POW MIA member Jennifer McBride. That family of bikers gathered together before hitting the road. "We believe that we are doing some good work, we're working for the people that stand up for us and every little bit of help we have to keep us safe we think's a fantastic thing," says POW MIA director of public relations Casey Jackman. To stay safe riders participated in the 5th annual Blessing of the Bikes. "They offer blessing on the bikes to protect us throughout the year doing the things that we do and going on the runs that we go on and the events that we participate in," says Jackman. Members of the group made there way to Calvary Church filling the parking lot for the blessing. "I have people look me up and say 'Rev you gotta bless my bike, I can't ride it until you bless it,' or 'I've been riding it and I'm worried so I need you to bless it' so there's definitely a sense of comfort there," says Reverend Jim Jones. A comfort to know, when on the road, someone is watching. "It makes me feel like we've just been protected with a bubble around us and life is good," says McBride. And life is even better living it with others. "A chance to spend some time with our brothers and sisters who are doing the right things. There's nothing better in the world," says Jackman. |
