TETON COUNTY, WYOMING - Authorities say nobody was killed or seriously injured when a small plane crashed near Togwotee Pass in northwest Wyoming.

The single engine Piper was headed from Douglas, Wyoming to Idaho Falls.

Teton County, WY Sheriff's Capt. Scott Terry says the plane crashed late Monday afternoon less than 2/3 of a mile from U.S. Highway 26 near Wind River Lake.

Terry says the pilot, Donald Ballard, was able to use his cell phone to call for help. Ballard told authorities that he and his daughter were the only people aboard the plane and that they were both OK.

Terry says emergency officials from Teton and Fremont counties in Wyoming located the victims within about two hours and were using snowmobiles to transport them to a command post.

Ballard was uninjured, but his daughter complained of shoulder and neck pain. She was taken to St. John's Hospital in Jackson.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
