INKOM - "That was scary that was unusual to happen in small town like that, we never had something like that before," says store owner Rashid Bisharat.

Right next door to homes and local businesses a crime that has the entire town of Inkom shook up.

"You feel worried a little bit but its not like today, today you feel really worried and scared," says Bisharat.

Today a man robbed Ireland Bank, in and out in less than a minute.

"It's very unusual around here. I was just starting to go to the bank and it was all roped off, didn't know what was going on," says area resident Rosalie Matthews.

A taped off bank after a man described to be a 5'8 hispanic with a blue shirt, light pants, and a dark baseball cap, entered the bank, handing a teller a note, informing he planned to rob the place.

"I don't want to use the cliché the first 24 hours but the longer the time that goes by that we don't have anything the longer it takes for us to be able to get this," says Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen.

Police responded immediately locking down Ikom Elementary School for precaution, sending out return 9-1-1 calls, and speaking with area businesses and residents to gather information.

"We feel fairly confident that we've gone through the businesses and through the cars and through the homes that I think the people are fairly safe," says Nielsen.

A big key in the investigation, a radio carried by the suspect.

"The radio concerns us, obviously there was some type of communication with other suspects," says Nielsen.

Three canines came out to track down a scent but had little luck, and the thought of today's event is a concern for so many.

"It makes you feel kind of unsafe," says Matthews.

"I mean we don't expect that to happen in this small town but it happened," says Bisharat.

If you do see the suspect police are asking you not to approach him but rather call the Bannock County Sheriffs Department at 236-7114.
