Minidoka Dam spillway replacement
By Justine Beauvais
FORT HALL - The Bureau of Reclamation hosted the meeting for the proposed Minidoka Dam Spillway Replacement project.
The concrete in the structure is starting to deteriorate and crumble which could cause parts of the spillway to fail. Three repair options are already being considered, to replace parts of the spillway each year little by little, replace the entire spillway and two head works of the canal, or replace the spillway only. "It's just that unknown that we don't know about so we think it's prudent to go ahead and replace that spillway now," says Chris Ketchum with the Bureau of Reclamation. If you were unable to attend the meeting, there are several places to send your comments.
