Did you know that 74% of people use search engines to research products before they buy and over half of those use search engines to find the site they buy from.
But many companies are missing the wave when it comes to surfing the internet. president of search engine optimization company, netmark essentials, Josh Dalton has an example of that. "So like Idaho Falls hotel, just in Google alone averages about 18,001 searches a month. It's people all over the country, you know that are coming here for business, vacation or what not. 18,001 searches a month, then if you go to google, none of the local hotels are even at the top of our search engine for that." So many companies are turning to internet experts to get people through their virtual doors. Dalton says, "We're the guys you call if you have a particular key word that you want your website to rank very well for. We're the guys you call. We get you to the very top of the search engine." And getting to the top of the search engine is an important key to winning the battle. Dalton says, "We've noticed that about 40% of the searchers click on the first link, but the traffic is 500% lower for position number three. So even if you're on page one, you still haven't won the battle. You still want to get to position one and that's where the golden ticket is. That's where you're making money is position one." Sales manager, Josh Perez explains why they turned to netmark essentials, "Our demographic are mainly professionals with a college degree that work with computers at their finger tips, so being able to advertise on the internet has helped us reach our deomographic more so than before." The demograpic is now contacting them directly from all over the world. Dalton says, "More and more people are going to search engines. I mean, I don't even have a phone book in my house. There's not even a phone book in this office and we rely solely on the internet and so many of the younger generation does the same thing. In fact, I have a statistic I can show you where the majority of the people got to the internet before they go to the newspaper, before they go to the phone book or anything like that, so it's important to have a presence there, but it's just one facet of your advertising or your marketing campaign. like I said, you definitely want the traditional advertising. It's still very effective. This is just a new form. A lot of people are using search engines. It's just a way to brand yourself on-line and be there." Branding themselves and being in the right spot has helped united. "We're relocation people. We're not marketing people, so we relay on companies like that to help us out; put our information out there." One of the keys to getting in the right spot is all in your choice of words.
