NEAR HAGERMAN - The wreckage of a missing plane was found Tuesday morning in Southwest Idaho.

The aircraft was flying with another small plane from Caldwell, Idaho to Utah. The pilot of the second plane noticed his friend was missing and turned around hoping to find him.

Only the pilot was onboard. The Elmore County Sheriff believe the pilot is Craig Jewitt of Utah, but has not officially confirmed his identification.

Today the ITD Division of Aeronautics tells CBS 2, radar recordings show the plane was flying erractically before the crash. At one point the plane even flew around in a circle. Experts say that is an indication that the pilot lost control of the aircraft.

Search crews used a radar tracking system to find where the plane went down just west of the Hagerman Fossil Beds.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
