Harvest Fest 2008

IDAHO FALLS - "The weather's not very good, not cooperating, but it's all right, it's fun," says Ron Woodhouse, Yummy's owner.

You can make anything fun, even when a little it's slow.

"Three hundred hamburgers and probably the same amount of hot dogs, but I doubt we'll go through even a third," says Woodhouse.

"How many have you gone through so far?"asks Araskya Karapetyan.

"Six. It's been slow," laughs Woodhouse.

But not as slow as the booth, selling cold drinks.

"Well, yeah it's definitely not melting, it anything else its getting more frozen," says Tony Rourick.

"A lot of people come by?" asks Karapetyan.

"No, no... less then ten," says Rourick.

But what was getting a whole lot of attention was the Chile cook-off.

"It's really good...it's fantastically lovely...come on in," shouts one chili vendor.

So we did.

"Good?" asks Karapetyan.

"It's good stuff," says Rick Montanez.

"It's really good," says Karapetyan.

These guys were having such a good time.

"Wow , this is very garlicky...this whole thing?" says Karapetyan.

"No!" everyone shouts.

"This whole thing?" laughs Montanez.

The Bonneville County Search and Rescue takes their chili seriously.
Twenty-one ingredients, and an hour and a half later, it goes from looking like nothing much to a masterpiece.

"How is it?" asks Karapetyan.

"It's really good. We come to this all three years, this has been the best one all three years," says one chili lover.

But besides the big cook off, these guys had another big reason to celebrate- fifty years since Search and Rescue came to exist.
Gordan Kimble is the man who helped start it all.

"I enjoy helped, people because I know if I might need help, sometime somebody will help me," says Kimble.

The snow didn't put a stop to the celebration, Search and Rescue's big accomplishment, and of course the chili.
