By Jennifer McGraw
BLACKFOOT- That means it's that time of year again when people are gearing their animals up for the Eastern Idaho State Fair's best in show.
This is the time of year where proud kids "Come on baby, come on round the post," said while leading his calf. and adults alike "It's exciting to win and take them out and win and see how you're doing with your breeding program," said Susie Tratt, who has been showing animals for thirty years. show off their animals and all that hard work Here at the state fair you can do anything here. There's plenty to do, but the best part is you can show off your animals and even get great prizes. "I'm the grand champion lamb in the quality because he was a good eater from the star," said Hailey, a first timer. "It feels good it's fun," said Maryann Holloway, who won champion steer today. "I'm feeling excited and happy," said Sierra, another steer champion in her class. "It's a lot of fun I got a lot of friends that do steer with me and we just enjoy hanging out with each other and competing against each other," said Kylie, showing animals now for nine years. But the only problem "There's more to just showing cows. You actually have to become a part of it, scoop it up, get right in it and clean right up after it. Now that's how you become a good cows-man," me "It's really fun showing them, it's a lot of work but in the end it pays off," said Rye while trimming his steer. "Its a really great time," said Hailey. and either way "If you win it's great and if you lose it's not so good but you had a good time doing it," said Matt Kortus, a long time dairy cow winner. |
