IDAHO FALLS - As the Republican National Convention Wraps up... More and more people are heading to the polls to register.
Eyewitness news reporter Hasti Taghi joins us now with that story.
There is Obama and Biden...and ...McCain and Palin.
Anyway you vote...this is going to be a historic election.
And Bonneville County Voters seem to be registering in large numbers to vote for their choice.

"it's a duty...something we should do," says a voter.

"I just think there's a little more interest in it this year than there has been before because there is a choice this year," says a voter.

Whatever the reason...more people will be heading to the polls. As McCain accepts his nomination as the Republican Nominee... Voters are finding more desire to register.

"the national presidential election in november brings a lot of people out...every 4 years it spikes it up a lot," says Bobbie Jockumsen, Bonneville County Elections Office.

Democrats headed to Denver in droves and Republicans to St.Paul in masses... And all this publicity got more voters to the election offices.

"it's just reminding them to come out and register or get an absentee ballot," says Jockumsen.

It is arguably one of the most-publicized elections in our lifetime. Either way you vote... This election is already history in the making.

"did the palin pick change your vote?"
"yes it did"
"so you were going for McCain and now..."
"i'm voting for Obama."

"I love sarah Palin... Firecracker," says a voter.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
