Possible Kidnapping, SWAT Responds

By Araksya Karapetyan

IDAHO FALLS - An Idaho Falls neighborhood is swarmed by police units and the SWAT team in the early morning hours.
Units filled the intersection of Vassar and Tulane, off Skyline Drive.
Idaho State Police got a call from Utah police, about a possible kidnapping.
According to Utah police, a note was found in a bathroom, at a campground, in the Box Elder Canyon area.
That note mentioned a partial license plate number, and that's how this whole thing started.

That license plate traced back to this house in Idaho Falls.
When ISP showed up to talk to the owner of this van, they didn't get very far.
On top of not cooperating with police, the new information they got conflicted with the information they had.
After getting a search warrant, and IFPD back up, SWAT went in.

"We found evidence of drug use, and illegal firearms, " says Sgt. Dave Peterson.

One of those weapons is reported stolen from Pocatello.
Based on what police found, an arrest was made.
Forty-four year old, Todd Taylor, was arrested on three counts.

"Possession of a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance," says Peterson.

There was no evidence of a kidnapped victim in this house, at the time the warrant was served.

"Circumstances of the note, placement and where it was written appeared to be legitimate," says Peterson.

Because of that, ISP is continuing the investigation.

"It appeared to have been written by a female, if that person was forced from the area, the note wouldn't have been easily found, but some one did find it and called it into law enforcement, " says Peterson.

ISP is taking these allegations seriously.
