SALT LAKE CITY, UT - It's one of the biggest announcement's in Melaleuca's history and if you take vitamins and supplements, you'll be affected.

On Thursday, thousands of people gathered at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah for the company's annual convention. It was there C.E.O. and President Frank Vandersloot announced a brand new product that Melaleuca says is revolutionary.

"We think that this new product is gonna have a huge impact," said Melaleuca President and C.E.O. Frank Vandersloot.

The product is called Oligofructose Complex and thousands of Melaleuca marketers and fans have been waiting weeks to hear about it.

"We've never announced any product as a big breakthrough. This is a breakthrough," said Vandersloot.

The breakthrough centers on antioxidants. Antioxidants fight cancer and help you live longer. You can find them in berries and supplements.

But now, after years of research and experiments, top notch scientists working for Melaleuca have found a problem.

"Many of the supplements that they're taking are actually destroying the antioxidants that they just took," said Vandersloot.

It happens in the small intestine before the antioxidants can be absorbed in the bloodstream. That leaves vital organs unprotected from millions of free radicals. Free radicals are tiny molecules that attack cells and antioxidants fight them off.

"We think that it's pretty important to the scientific world. We think that it will be picked up on and make a lot of difference in people's lives if they can get the right protection," said Vandersloot.
