Construction Signs Causing a Hazard?

RIGBY - If you've driven on Highway 20 around Rigby in the past month you have seen the construction work. And if you're not expecting it, the signs can get pretty confusing. One concerned viewer told us he almost got into an accident because of the signs. So taking action for you, we set out to see why these signs are confusing drivers.

If you're not prepared, the signs for any construction area can throw you off. The main problem is people speeding which is dangerous for them and the construction workers.

"I was just driving and this sign in front of me came out of nowhere."

This stretch of highway between Rigby and Rexburg is under construction and the signs are confusing drivers. In fact, there have been so many traffic violations in the area that the ISP is patrolling closely hoping to keep drivers from a dangerous mistake.

"We've had several accidents."

But are the confusing signs adding to the problem?

"the signs change as the construction progresses and I guess that can be confusing but people need to be cautious.

Although everything is done to make things clear... These signs can be confusing so the best thing to do is slow down and pay attention to what they say.

"I saw someone driving over 60 in the construction area and he almost got in a serious accident."

When driving at speeds like this...these signs can be a blur... Making it easy for anyone to make a tragic mistake.

"keep 'em safe is a nationwide campaign set out to make sure drivers remember that there are construction workers just a few feet away."

Although construction areas can cause a headache for people driving back and forth. Slowing down to the posted speed limit is crucial in this area. But don't worry, the construction on Highway 20 will be done by the end of the month.
