AMMON - The mortgage crisis isn't only affecting homeowners, many renters are finding themselves in hot water too. Looking at 1602 Stevens Dr. in Ammon, you would not know it is being foreclosed. But make no mistake, it is.

Home is where the heart is and now Jewel McMurtrey and her neighbors are is broken hearted.

"We pay our rent, we pay our bills. We don't deserve that," says McMurtrey. But according to the bank, the owner Miguel Lugo has not been paying the mortgage on this property at 1602 Stevens Drive in Ammon. Now the loyal tenants are paying for Lugo's mistake.

Tenant Michelle Nelson is worried about where she'll go.

"Horrible, I mean I lived here for two and half years and to find out that I'm getting kicked in two weeks in unbelievable," she says.

So this is the situation, this is a four-plex the tenant in Unit D got this letter about two weeks ago saying that they had to be out in two weeks. Now this tenant right here in Unit C was visited last week by the realtor representing the bank. The tenants in units A and B haven't' received an official notice, so when does the two weeks start? Does it start with the date of the letter, which is July 24 or does it start from last Thursday?

Stacie Christ called the number in the letter to find out what help is available to the tenants. No answer so she leaves a message.

"Yes, my name is Stacie Christ."

Not even five minutes after Stacie made that call. The mailman comes with the official eviction notice.

"Dated July 30, so we have 15 days. So the 14th and then it says if we fail to do so a suit will be brought against us, for possession of the premises," reads Christ.

"Don't get too damned comfortable, because your safety blanket is gone nowadays with the way the economy is and stuff. Just because you're a renter, don't think you're safe, because you're not. It could happen to you because it just happened to me, says "McMurtrey

Idaho law states the tenants must be given at least 30 days notice of eviction if they've paid their rent. But are there different laws when a property goes into foreclosure?
