POCATELLO - Fire crews in Bannock County were busy Saturday afternoon fighting a brush fire near Indian Hills Elementary School.

The fire broke out around 4:30 and quickly charred about 15 acres due to steady winds.

40 firefighters from Pocatello, Chubbuck, and the Bureau of Land Management responded to the blaze and were able to get it under control within an hour.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by a child smoking.

There were about 15 people in the area when the fire broke out, but no one was injured.

This is the biggest fire within the city, this year.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
