A recount election in Fremont County shows the numbers haven't changed in the Sheriff's race.

Incumbent Sheriff Ralph Davis lost the Republican ticket by 12 votes in May and asked for a recount.

Wednesday afternoon deputies carried metal boxes of ballots over to the clerk's office for the recount.

After finding out nothing changed, Davis isn't sure what he'll do now.

Sheriff Ralph Davis, Fremont Co.: "We'll have to sit down and re-evaluate where we're at right now and look that over."

Davis has been in office for one term. Humphries will still have competition in the November election.

Former St. Anthony police chief Bryan Fullmer plans to run against him as an independent candidate..

Idaho law allows state agencies to divert some state income tax refunds to pay legal obligations like court fees, child support, and sheriff's garnishments. Taxpayers whose refunds have been diverted have no legal recourse. What do you think of the law?

  • Times are tight. If the state needs the money, this approach is better than budget cuts, tax hikes, etc.
  • I'm entitled to the refund, and the state can just take it? Unfair and ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
