Friday afternoon Bonneville County fire crews responded a car explosion.

It happened in a neighborhood near Farnsworth Drive in Idaho Falls.

Neighbors say the homeowner finished mowing his lawn, put the mower next to the vehicle, then went inside to take a bath.

That's when everyone in the area heard a large explosion.

Blair Harding, Neighbor: "I heard a blow and when it blew up I looked down this way. Smoke was everywhere. I came running down the circle, alerted the people in the house that they had a fire, and then we got out the hose and we started to keep everything cool around the car."

Crews immediately put the fire out but not before it destroyed the roof the carport.

The house didn't receive any major damage.

No one was injured.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
