Ucon Kids Get Bikes, Helmets
By Danielle Leigh
The fifth graders at Ucon Elementary are going to be biking in style this summer.
Bill's Bike Shop in Idaho Falls, gave 13 kids re-vamped bicycles, and a transportation department grant provided 50 kids with brand new helmets. The surprise was all part of the fifth grade's bike safety inspection event. Their seats were adjusted, their tires inflated, and the kids were tested on proper hand signals. "I think it's important for kids to pick a skill that they can be good at and bike riding is a really good skill it promotes physical fitness," says Organizer Barb Croft. Tomorrow, the entire fifth grade will take their bikes on a 9-mile ride to kick off the cycling season. |
