Fatal Farming Accident

Fatal Farming Accident

By Mary Sturgill

A St. Anthony man is dead after a farming accident. It's a horrible rare accident that has left the community of St. Anthony grieving tonight.
We're told the accident took place just west of St. Anthony around 3:45pm this afternoon.
The victim, who is believed to be a minor was riding in the bucket on a new Holland versatile tractor. The tractor then hit a rut in the field and the man was tossed out... the tractor did not stop and ran over him.
Authorities are not releasing the victim's name until they notify the next of kin. Sheriff Ralph Davis says these things are never easy to deal with. "I can only imagine what that must be like. you know to lose a family member like that. it's a pretty tough thing. something that we deal with day in and day out but it doesn't make it any easier for us and it certainly isn't easy for those families that lose someone so our heart goes out to them."
This is the first farming accident in Fremont County in 9 years. Since the accident happened in a work environment OSHA will most likely perform an investigation.
