Child Rape, Endangerment Suspects Appear in Court

By Nate Eaton

One week ago channel 3 broke the unbelievable story of a St. Anthony 10-year-old who gave birth to a baby girl.

Since then, the 10-year-old's mother and another man have been criminally charged.

On Tuesday both suspects appeared in court.

Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez didn't look up at all during his short court appearance this morning. It was supposed to be his preliminary hearing but both the prosecution and defense needed more evidence so it was postponed for six weeks.

A court appointed interpreter translated from English to Spanish for Juarez and told him everything that was happening as a handful of family and friends listened to the proceedings.

After Juarez left the courtroom, 27-year-old Isabel Chasarez appeared and waived her preliminary hearing. The two couldn't be in the courtroom at the same because of a no contact order.

Both Juarez and Chasarez are accused of being involved in the rape of a 10-year-old girl who gave birth a week and a half ago.

Juarez faces three rape charges and Chasarez faces one felony count of endangerment to a child. She's accused of failing to provide pre-natal care to the 10-year-old between January 1 and April 28th of this year.

Chasarez is in the Madison County Jail women's facility. Juarez is in the Fremont County jail.

The 10-year-old and her infant are in custody of the state.
