"we had a barbecue and he was here and we have a video tape of it and it shows who he really was." - Tom Hembreiker, Deceased Shooting Suspect's Father

Tom Hembreiker recalls finals memories of the son he buried today. Steve Hembreiker was being followed by police last Monday when he jumped out of his moving vehicle and took off on foot. After a short foot chase and a struggle with his gun...a police officer shot the wanted suspect. Hembreiker was pronounced deceased at Bingham Memorial Hospital later that day.

"he was the kind of person who would help you if he saw that you needed help."-Hembreiker

Funeral services for Hembreiker were held this morning at the Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
Following last Monday's incident... The Blackfoot police department has been combating threats to their officers.

"those threats are credible and we are taking it very seriously."- Chief David R. Moore, Blackfoot Police

"It's like a movie..I couldn't even believe it when I heard it."-Hembreiker

The family says Blackfoot P-D has been cooperative with the relatives as they deal with the hard times at hand.

"chief Moore has called us and met with us several times. My family wants to give our condolences to the police officer involved whoever he may be."

... through this tragedy Tom Hembreiker hopes other parents and troubled children will learn a valuable lesson.
