St. Anthony EMS Workers Surprise Second Graders

By Nate Eaton

Second graders in St. Anthony got a nice surprise Monday thanks to the city's volunteer EMS department.

Workers visited three elementary schools to talk about bike, boat, and swimming safety.

They've done this for the past six years and say it's a success.

Kena Ricks, St. Anthony Ambulance: "You know the biggest thing is to let people know that we're out there and that we are a volunteer ambulance crew. We want to teach them safety so that they know what's going on."

All the kids got prizes like bike horns or helmets...some even got brand new bikes

The EMS department is always looking for donors to help support the program.
