Rockies on a Tank of Gas Part 2

Rockies on a Tank of Gas Part 2

By Anthony Congi

There's all kinds of great places that you can get to and back on just a tank of gas from Idaho Falls. And with Memorial Day getting closer, I have another great place to show you in part two.. of "Rockies on a Tank of Gas".
With a full tank of gas and the open road ahead of me, I set out for my second journey of "Rockies on a Tank of Gas."
Finding some beautiful scenery on my drive, I was very anxious to find more adventure and looked forward to my first visit ever to Jackson Hole.
Chances are you've probably spent some time in Jackson, but outside the ski resort and downtown, how much of the city have you really seen? Well I'm in town today and we're going to show you all kinds of great things you can do here in Jackson.
The Grand Teton National Park opens this month. And with that, there's numerous outdoor adventures that you can go on with the family.
Now that the weather is starting to warm up, there's several great, guided trips that you can take, such as a fly fishing tour through either grand teton or the national forest just south of town.
And if you've never gone before, don't worry, everyone at the Snake River Angler Fly Shop has you covered.
John Ripley, Fly Fishing Guide: "Come on out and check it out, we have a lot of first time fly fishers that do trips with us. Our guides are all great teachers, good instructors, patient. All our guides have their own equipment so you don't even need your own fishing rod, you can get a license through us and you'll be catching fish in no time".
The company also offers a scenic 14 mile float trip through Teton National Park which is a great scenic trip for nature and wildlife. And if you're feeling a bit more daring, there's also some great white water rafting excursions to take in town which are great for both experienced rafters as well as beginners.

Steve Potvin, General Manager: "It's class three so it's big enough to be a lot of fun, it's not crazy, huge white water. It's not scary but it's definitely big enough to be fun."

The Jackson Hole White Water Company starts their trips May 5th and book up fast so call ahead to make sure you get your seat. If you're not quite the adventurous type, Jackson still has plenty of things to offer.
For the connoisseurs, the Jackson Hole Wine Company offers between six and seven hundred different labels both domestic and from all over the world.
There are also several different art museums such as the Legacy Art Gallery, containing all kinds of local scenic pictures and paintings, from local artists.
For a fun and educational museum, check out Ripley's Believe it or Not which has all kinds of information about Wyoming's old west, as well as more bizarre things to see such as this six foot cigar, the largest barb wire ball and an upside down room that'll make your head spin.
Add that to the many restaurants, galleries and other things to see and after sight seeing all day, and at just over 200 miles round trip, Jackson is a great stop for you and the family.
