Finding Frenchie

More than a dozen people in south Bannock County have banded together to find a missing dog that belongs to a California woman.

The dog has been missing for more than a month, but there's a good chance she's still alive, because she was just spotted on Thursday, and several different times before then.

Residents in McCammon and Arimo have been looking along I-15 for Frenchie, who went missing when her California owners were in a rollover accident near Inkom in late August.

"This poor little dog, she has got stamina, I have to say this, because she's been to Arimo back to McCammon, from Inkom. You have to admire, she wants to go home. She wants her family," said McCammon resident Dorothy Denney.

Since then, the one-and-a-half year old poodle's owners have even been back twice to look for her, and even spotted her themselves.

"They saw her down at the school in Arimo, and they tried to catch her, and she's so traumatized and so scared that she wouldn't even go to her own family," said Denney.

All three of these ladies have also seen Frenchie but haven't been able to catch her. McCammon resident Janie Davis saw her on the interstate median two weeks ago.

"My husband and I got in the car and came back to try and get the dog. When we saw the dog, we pulled over immediately, and she went into hiding," she said.

Channel Three Eywitness News Reporter Jeff Robinson spoke to Frenchie's owner in San Diego over the phone. She says she's grateful for the kindness shown by the people searching for her dog.

These ladies, all dog owners themselves, are not about to give up, and they've been checking the traps they've set up to see if they can catch her.

"It would just make my heart swell, if I knew people were out looking for my little dog. Little dogs are precious," said Arimo resident Lisa Moore.
