If you're sick of the winter weather and have a little too much cabin fever, Eyewitness News reporter Tommy Noel has a nice treat for you.

In the final edition of Everybody Has a Story, Tommy visited a local garden store and met someone in charge of all the plants...

Within the walls of this greenhouse at Sunnyside Gardens, Christina Gutke is perfecting her craft.

"It's mostly in my genes. Came from my grandparents, I think," says Christina Gutke.

And when you think plants, you usually think spring or summer... But not in Christina's world.

"We start the second week of January. Most of the stuff that you see growing is for Mother's Day. We have to plan ahead for that," says Christina.

And the customers are planning ahead too, getting a quick sneak peek at the plants.

"When they come out here, just to see green, a lot of people get really excited for Spring," says Christina.

Christina is someone who gets to do one of her favorite hobbies and get paid for it!

"You get to see the progress of your work. I really love it. It's really rewarding," says Christina.

And she even feels the pain when a plant or two doesn't make it.

"It's always a sad day when we lose one," says Christina.

The Shelley native can identify everything she grows and she'll throw out some background for ya too.

"These are onions... A begonia," says Christina.

And Christina's favorite...

"Pansies. They remind me of my great grandmother and they just smell great," says Christina.

You usually hear on the news those studies of how talking to plants helps them grow. So I decided to get an expert opinion.

"I usually have my Ipod in all day long, so I'll sing to them. If nobody else is in here," says Christina.

Sing away Christina, I'm sure the plants love the attention.
